eSIM for Egypt: Nile, Red Sea and desert data
An Egypt eSIM gives you data across the country, with no Egyptian number. Combining Egypt with Jordan? The Middle East & North Africa eSIM covers both. Expect patchy signal between towns on a Nile cruise and in the desert, and good coverage in Cairo and the Red Sea resort towns.

Cairo and Giza
You’ll use data for ride-hailing, maps through heavy traffic and timed tickets. Arrival and getting into town: Cairo city guide.
On a Nile cruise
Cruises between Luxor and Aswan stop at towns and temples, where signal is usually fine. Between them, the boat passes stretches of farmland and desert where it comes and goes. Download what you need while moored, keep messages short, and use the boat’s Wi-Fi where it has it. Arrival notes: Luxor.
Red Sea resorts
In Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, resorts usually have Wi-Fi, but it can be weak at the pool or beach and is no help on excursions. A small plan covers transfers, boat trips back to the marina and finding each other in a large resort. On boats far from shore, expect no signal.
Desert trips
Long desert drives and oasis trips can have long stretches with no signal. Download offline maps for the whole route, tell someone your plan, and carry a power bank.
Sharing with family
One phone sharing a hotspot is tempting on a resort holiday. Most plans allow it, but it depends on the local network, so check the plan details before you rely on it and budget data at the streaming rate. The trade-offs: family trip eSIMs.
